GENERAL INFORMATION:

 

IF YOU ARE RIDING THE FAN BUS TO EVANSVILLE – You will be released at 1:45 and need to be on the bus in the front of school (BUS LOT) by 2:00. Feel free to change into more comfortable, non-dress code clothes if you desire. Just make sure you are on the bus by 2:00. We will not be able to go into the school upon our return to Belleville West, so make sure you have everything that you may need for the weekend. 6 hours on a bus = a lot of time to finish your homework. FRESHMEN: Today is the last day petitions will be accepted for anyone interested in running for the 2011-2012 STUDENT COUNCIL. Each petition should be turned in to the commons no later than 5th hour today. There will be an assembly on Monday and students running for an office must give a short speech during this time – more information will be sent to you on the speech. The 2011-2012 Student Council will meet every Wednesday and Friday at 7:45 a.m. Meetings are mandatory, so be sure you can attend before petitioning. Good luck! – Mr. Woodrome

MAROONS HOCKEY is looking for a few student volunteers for the season. We need a Varsity Announcer to call the home games over the local PA system and play music during breaks, and two energetic student managers for the JV and VARSITY home games to assist parents with the 50/50 and anything the team may need. The VARSITY TENNIS team finished in 3rd place out of 16 teams in the Champaign Centennial Invitational this past weekend. Individual awards went to Senior Kelcie Comley and Sophomore Blair Hollenbeck for a 2nd place at #1 doubles, Freshman Kayleigh Thurwalker at #2 singles for her 3rd place finish, and Senior Anna Bullard and Junior Anna Mernick for a 4th place finish at #2 doubles. Belleville East will also be playing against Granite City earlier that same evening. The cost of a ticket, good for both games, is $11.00, with West receiving a portion of that cost. If you plan to attend and watch our players in the same venue as the “Greatest Show on Turf”, please buy your tickets early. They will be on sale in the bookstore during regular bookstore hours. Purdue University Women in Engineering Program is offering a FREE daylong engineering series for high school seniors on Monday, October 17, 2011, from 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. This is a wonderful opportunity to check out the world of Engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. CLUBS & COMMITTEES:

 

SCIENCE CLUB had its first meeting of the year on Monday and new members are still being accepted. This year Science Club will be meeting every Monday at 3:35 p.m. starting September 12th. There will be no meeting September 5 due to Labor Day.

The VARSITY GIRLS’ TENNIS TEAM lost a hard fought match with Columbia Rock Bridge, 6-3. The Junior Varsity lost 7-0. – Coach Keefe/Coach Mennerick
