Then donate your gently-used, school-appropriate books to the BW Library before Friday, May 20. The books you donate will be used to build classroom libraries in the English Department. The Thinking Cup Café closes Friday, May 13 at 10:00 a.m. The library staff thanks all the students who volunteered their time to work as café baristas. The Key Club and the Belleville Kiwanis Club are sponsoring an E-cycle day here at West on Saturday, May 14 from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. Please bring by any electronics that day to donate. We can take used batteries of any kind, used electronics, cell phones, computers, computer monitors, TVs ($5 suggested donation for monitors and TVs), anything with a cord can be recycled. You can bring donations to B108 this week if you are unable to come on Saturday morning.

ATTENTION STUDENTS: The yearbooks have arrived. Your pre-sale books may be picked up on May 12 and May 13 during lunch hours. You will only be able to pick them up during your lunch hour, so do not attempt to pick one up at a different time. Check on the yearbook display case to see if you’ve pre-ordered a book. If you did not pre-order and you would still like to purchase a book, we will have a limited supply available for 60 dollars. We will also be selling previous years’ books. Printing: Students may print projects during the weeks of May 23-27.

DeVry University is offering PASSPORT2COLLEGE this summer from 7/5/11 to 8/4/11. This is an excellent opportunity for students who will be entering their junior or senior year in the Fall 2011to earn college credit. There is no tuition cost. Are you interested in attending a summer camp, earning college credits, visiting a college campus? If so, please go to our website, click on Guidance and see the Summer Programming opportunities available or see Mrs. McMurray in C109.

DeVry University’s St. Louis Campus will be offering a 5 week “tuition waived” program for high school students to earn college credit in business and technology courses. This is open to students entering their junior or senior year. Classes begin on July 12 and end August 11. Classes will meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Application and paperwork deadline is June 10, 2011. See Mrs. McMurray for an application.

Little Theater Technicians: We are looking for some people who are interested in working lights and sound for a few summer dance productions. Little Theatre members: Our final meeting of the year will be held after school tomorrow in the PAC. We will be holding elections for 2011-2012 officers, and we will have information about our year-end celebration. (Don't forget to make your reservation for the celebration by this Friday, May 13.)

Volunteers: There is another opportunity to help others and to add to your Volunteer West service hours. If you would be interested in helping with the Queen of Peace Race on May 14th from 8-11, please see Ms. Tieman in B238 and make sure that you report your hours to Ms. Emmons or Dr. Hayden in C104.


Interested in Girls Golf? Come to an informational meeting on camp, tournaments, try-outs and more on Tuesday, May 17th at 8:05am OR 3:25pm in room B222. If you are unable to attend, please stop by and talk to Coach Souders.

Mark your calendars- This Thursday, May 12th is an important day- The Belleville East and Belleville West baseball teams will be playing their first annual Coaches vs. Cancer baseball game at Belleville East. The teams need your support in order to raise money for the American Cancer Society. Admission is free but the teams will be donating all the money raised in the concession stand to the American Cancer Society. We will also be taking donations throughout the game. Please come out and help us support this important cause.

There will be a mandatory meeting for all boys interested in playing basketball Thursday, May 12. The meeting will be at 8:10 in room D106. If you cannot attend the meeting, please see Coach Muniz in D106 or Coach Garrett in B219 so you can get the information about summer basketball.
