We appreciate your investment in your child’s education and want to share with you some information about the state and federally required assessments.

Federal law requires the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) to administer annual state assessments.  At the high school level, these are the PSAT 9, PSAT 10, and SAT with essay.  The SAT with essay is a graduation requirement in our state and is typically taken during Junior year.  As you know, your students did not take the state-sponsored SAT last year, due to COVID-19.  At this time, the state is still requiring the SAT with essay for graduation and has arranged a fall testing date for the Class of 2021.

District 201 will provide the SAT on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 to ALL seniors* (in-person & remote) in the Class of 2021.  More details regarding the logistics of testing on Wednesday, October 14th will be forthcoming, but, for now, please save the date and plan to have your child attend their testing session on campus on Wednesday, October 14th.   If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s school counselor or Melissa Taylor, Assistant Superintendent of Student Services ( This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. ).  There will be an option for an April testing date for any seniors who are not able to attend on Wednesday, October 14th, but because this is currently a state graduation requirement, we strongly suggest seniors plan on participating in October.

Thank you for your dedication and support,

District 201 Testing Committee
