ANNOUNCEMENTS


Juniors and Seniors- We added a Bonus Day to get a prom ticket! The Bonus day will be Wednesday April 26. Nothing will be sold after that day. Tickets are $40 each. You only need a green guest form IF you are bringing a guest that is NOT an east student.

Lancerfest-  Art Club will be selling stickers, bracelets and some small artsy things for 1$ ticket each. Look for the table with the colorful display at Lancerfest! 4/19 4/20

  

Are you Smarter than a Scholar Bowler? Prove it at Lancerfest! $1 for 4 questions. All who participate receive a Candy prize! We will also be selling Water and flavor packets for $1.

  

Congratulations to the following FBLA students who placed at state this past weekend. Sydney Euchner received 5th place for Graphic Design; Charlotte Brink and Aurhianna Washington received 8th place for Website Design, and Nicole Wells received 9th place for Securities & Investments. Daily Grind- With the end of the year approaching, means The Daily Grind will be closing soon. Our last day will be Friday, April 28. If you have any Daily Grind Dollars that you haven't used, they will only be good until next Friday. Next week we will be selling Slushies and Iced Coffee until we run out. We have had a great year and it is because of your support.

  

EXPLORE Healthcare careers this summer!!

Hospital Sisters Health System will be hosting a one day High School Healthcare Bootcamp for rising Juniors and Seniors on June 20th at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in O’Fallon. This will allow students to gain awareness and interest in the different health care careers. The application is now live and will close May 5th.

Attention Lancers! Do you love being a Lancer and part of the Belleville community? Do you enjoy community service and helping others? Belleville Achieves Strength in Character - otherwise known as BASIC Youth Board has a rare opportunity to fill some newly created spots. SUMMER DRIVER ED 2023!!!!!

Students interested in taking Driver's Education this summer, the packets are out!  You can pick up your registration in formation in the main principal's office and in the counseling center in B building.  Make sure to read ALL information.

Life Skills Program- Clearance spirit wear shirts will be available for purchase in the cafeteria during lunch hours Wednesday, April 19th through Friday, April 21st. T-shirts are marked down to $10 and hoodies and crewnecks for $15. Cash only, while supplies last.

SENIOR NEWS


  

Attention Seniors (Class of 2023)- On April 25th Jostens will be delivering Cap and Gowns in the Cafeteria during all three lunch hours. Please remember if you haven't paid, you will need to pay before receiving your cap and gown. All other cap and Gown questions can be asked there and then or call 1-800-Jostens. 

 

SENIORS! There will be a mandatory senior class  meeting Thursday, April 27th During the first half lunch hours (3A, 4A, and 5A) in the PAC (Performing Arts Center)

LIBRARY NEWS


Library- April is National Poetry Month and School Library Month. Celebrate with the library through our Blackout Poetry Contest. To participate, students can use any found text (we have plenty of pages available in the library), and then blackout to leave only the words they want to create a poem. Stop by the library to pick up your pages and see some examples. Poems are due by April 26

  

Library Lunch Passes Required- There will be NO library walk-ins during lunch hours from April 21 - April 28. We will have limited seating because we are hosting the Q Gallery Art Show. Fill out a pass request and check your email on the day you've requested to see if you will have a seat available for you.  All walk-ins will be turned away. See a library staff member with any questions. 

  

Genre Reading Challenge - We're in our final month of the library's genre challenge! This month we are reading Historical Fiction. If you want to be in the grand prize raffle for Apple Airpod Pros, you must submit your finished punch card by May 1. See Mrs. Byrne with any questions

  


Bookmark Design Contest - Calling all artists! The Library's bookmark design contest is back by popular demand! Pick up a blank bookmark in the library or use this template to design online. Submissions are due by April 25 when we wrap up our School Library Month celebration. The winning bookmark will be printed and distributed in the library next year! Read for a Lifetime - We are a month away from the end of the Read for a Lifetime 2023 program. If you have already finished your four books, you may submit your reading record here.

  

Still need a few more books to complete? Come by the library to check one out! Call Us What We Carry,All Systems Red, and Punching the Air are all quicker reads. To see a list of all the titles along with summaries and readlikes, check out the RFL libguide.

  

Ready for the ultimate reading challenge? The BE Library divides our fiction books into eight genres. Explore those genres by reading one book from each genre throughout the 2022-23 school year. Registeredstudents who complete the challenge of reading the eight books by May 1, 2023 will receive the following: a free book and an invite to the library's Readers Celebration party. One lucky student will also win a pair of brand new Apple AirPods Pro! Want a chance to win Daily Grind dollars too? Read along with the library with our genre of the month! The Library still  requires passes for students to visit during their lunch or study hall periods. Pass requests must be submitted on our form  before 9:30 am on the day you want to visit.  If you do not submit a pass request you will not be allowed to stay in the library.Please check your email prior to coming to be sure your pass was approved.
